John Roggeveen
Calgary-ShawJohn Roggeveen is the Leader of the Alberta Liberal Party, a long-time resident of southeast Calgary, and a proud Albertan and Canadian who lives in the Calgary-Shaw area. Self-employed for more than 30 years, John understands the challenges of running a business, making ends meet, and building a strong economy that creates opportunity for Albertans.
John and his wife of 36 years raised their family in Calgary, giving him a firsthand appreciation for the importance of strong public education and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed. His own recent experiences with Calgary emergency rooms have also reinforced his belief that Albertans deserve timely access to a dependable, well-managed public health-care system.
John believes Alberta needs a different kind of politics — practical, responsible and focused on bringing people together. As a proud Albertan and Canadian, he believes Alberta is strongest when we stand up for our province while working constructively within Canada. Albertans should be genuinely consulted on major decisions that affect their rights and their future, rather than having government policy driven by political trial balloons, division, or constant fights with Ottawa.
He believes the UCP too often looks for someone else to blame instead of taking responsibility for the challenges facing Alberta, while the NDP has failed to provide an effective alternative capable of bringing Albertans together.
John is running in Calgary-Shaw to offer voters another choice: a strong, moderate Alberta Liberal voice focused on affordability, better health care and education, responsible economic growth, fiscal responsibility, and accountable government.
For John, politics should be about listening to people, solving problems and getting results — not ideology, division, or partisan labels.
