Don Slater

Edmonton-Strathcona
Don Slater is very concerned about the UCPs decision to claw back the Canadian Disability Benefit. Don believes if a government cannot help the most vulnerable, they will help no one.

Don Slater is an Edmonton-based disability advocate recognized for his tireless efforts to support and uplift Canadians with disabilities. A board member with the Voice of Albertans with Disabilities and Community Outreach Coordinator for Disability Without Poverty, Don has helped countless individuals navigate complex systems like AISH and the Disability Tax Credit.
His advocacy stems from lived experience with disability and a deep sense of justice, leading him to support individuals directly and push for broader policy reforms. Don has spoken on major platforms, including VAD’s podcast The Voice, the Shaye Ganam show and The Breakdown with Nate Pike.
In recognition of his work, Don has been awarded both the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal and the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
