CALGARY, AB (April 1, 2015): New health data reveals alternate level of care bed days in Alberta’s hospitals is surging due to PC government’s ideologically-driven privatized seniors’ care policies.
“The numbers speak for themselves,” says Swann. “Clearly, there is no medical or financial incentive to continue down this path. So, the motivation must be either ideological or political.”
Alberta Health Services (AHS) documents obtained through an Alberta Liberal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) request show that alternative level of care (ALC) bed days have risen dramatically in just under three years.
CALGARY, AB (March 31, 2015):
Alberta Liberals says the recent PC government’s pre-election school funding announcements are not a guarantee new schools will be built on time.
In January, Alberta Liberals called on the government to allocate the necessary funds in the budget to ensure schools are built. However, claims that funding equates construction are highly dubious and are more about electioneering than proper planning.
EDMONTON, AB (March 26, 2015): Alberta Liberal Leader David Swann is calling the government’s decision to close the Young Offender Centre in Calgary a bad move for the youth involved, their families, and both communities.
“Again, the government is being pennywise and pound-foolish by closing this centre, firing the staff, and shipping these kids out of their home community and down the road to Edmonton,” says Swann. “We should be working hard to rehabilitate these young people who are in trouble with the law, not ripping them out of the only support system they may have."
