Alberta Liberal Leader David Khan and MLA David Swann will attend the Lethbridge Whoop-Up Days on Tuesday, August 21:
Khan stated, ‘Whoop-Up Days’ exhibition and rodeo is a fun opportunity for the Lethbridge community to celebrate its western heritage and for all Albertans to come and enjoy a wide range of festivities during the five-day long event. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone there.”
Swann added, “There is a rich history with Whoop-Up Days dating back to the first fair held in 1897.
“In 1904, eight years before the Calgary Stampede, the first large-scale rodeo was staged as part of Whoop-Up Days. It’s been going strong ever since. It's one of my favourite events in southern Alberta.”
Thousands of visitors will enjoy activities including the rodeo, daily concerts, the midway, trade show, and 18 pancake breakfasts throughout the community.
Both Khan and Swann will be riding in the 4 km long Whoop-up Parade which kicks off the festivities at 10:00 am Tuesday.
Khan and Swann will be available to the media on Tuesday morning at the parade start: Park Place Mall and at the parade end: Adams Ice Centre.
