The Oldman watershed is at the centre of the debate about coal mining along the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains, with two proposed open pit mines currently undergoing government review, and two more being explored.
Shannon Frank has been the Executive Director of the Oldman Watershed Council for 10 years. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Lethbridge. Previously she worked for the MULTISAR (multiple species at risk) program supporting agricultural producers to conserve valuable grassland habitat.
Shannon will highlight the latest information about government policy and consultation, as well as the potential impacts of coal mines on watersheds, and other water users downstream.
