Tragic News

The Alberta Liberals are shocked and saddened to announce the passing of Bill Alton, President of the St Albert Constituency Association, Interim Secretary for the Party, and most recently the Alberta Liberal Candidate for St Albert in the 2015 Provincial General Election.

Bill was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but had been a resident of St Albert since 1981. He was a retired carpenter and also served as a union organizer and education coordinator for Local 1325 United Brotherhood of Carpenters, from 2001 to 2011.

As a strong supporter of the St Albert community Bill was active in various capacities including Canvasser & Area Captain for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and a Canvasser for the Diabetes, & Kidney Foundations. Over the years he served on the board of St Albert Minor Hockey Association, chaired the Cantilon Choral Society from 1998 to 2011, and was a member of the School Council for Leo Nickerson School and Sir George Simpson School.

Bill is survived by his wife Connie and his two adult children who are pursuing post-graduate degrees at the University of Toronto,  and at Concordia University in Montreal.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
