Diane Kubanek

“I want to be part of a team that has a clear plan for the future of Alberta.  We need to be responsible stewards of our resources, and protect and repair our environment for the good and health of all citizens.” – Diane Kubanek

A former Red Deer Public School Trustee, Diane Kubanek is a dedicated team-builder with nearly three decades of experience in the health care sector.  Diane is prepared to voice the concerns of all her constituents and bring real, effective representation for Red Deer in the legislature.

Born in Olds, Alberta, Diane began her education in a one-room schoolhouse in Elkton. She later went on to study Physiotherapy at the University of Alberta, earning her B.Sc. in 1980.  Taking a break from her career to raise her three children, Diane has worked as a physiotherapist for 28 years, practicing in continuing care, pediatrics, home care, and other areas.  She is retiring from her rewarding career after spending four years as the Team Leader for Physiotherapy for the David Thompson Health Region.

In the community, she has been a strong advocate for a well-funded public education system.  Diane was elected to the Red Deer Public School Board in 1997, and served as a Trustee there for two full terms.  She has also served on the boards of numerous youth-based charitable organizations.

When asked about the issues in her constituency, Diane cites affordable housing, public health care balancing sustainable economic growth, and the protection of the environment as key priorities.

Diane and her husband Walter, a semi-retired lawyer, have three adult children and one grandchild.

In her spare time, Diane enjoys exploring the outdoors, gardening, and pottery.
