Mike Judd

“It’s time to get serious about protecting our environment, restoring our democracy, and strengthening public health care.” – Mike Judd

Mike Judd is a lifelong resident of Pincher Creek with a keen knowledge of the issues affecting people in the region. As the operator of Diamond Hitch Outfitters since 1980, Mike conducts horse-pack tours of the Rockies, and loves sharing the natural beauty of our province with tourists and longtime Albertans alike. He also owns Crazy Dog Sled Tours.

Mike understands the importance of protecting Alberta’s environment, not just for the sake of preserving our natural heritage for future generations, but for economic reasons as well. Tourists from around the world flock to Alberta to enjoy its natural splendor. As a businessman and lover of nature, Mike recognizes the need to balance expanding industrial activity in the east slopes with the protection of the area’s sensitive ecological integrity. He hopes to increase the number of protected natural areas in the region.

Mike’s passion for the people and environment of the province’s eastern slopes has led him to take an active role in the community for more than two decades. A determined and outspoken environmental activist, Mike has served on the executive of several environmental organizations, and initiated several hearings with the AEUB on energy project applications on the eastern slopes.  Mike has also travelled to the United States to speak on the environmental impacts of industrial development near Alberta’s Rocky Mountains.

While passionate about the environment, Mike is also concerned about a number of other issues affecting people in the region. Housing for Alberta’s growing population of seniors and the shortage of adequate health care facilities are among the issues he hopes to address as a representative of Livingstone-Macleod.  Mike has strong friendships with the First Nations communities of his constituency, and will work to ensure that government policy is more attentive to their concerns.

Mike has two sons, Bruce and Matthew, and enjoys landscape painting and dog sledding in his free time.
