“I believe in open, accountable and fiscally responsible government, a big change from the current backroom politics that Alberta has suffered for long enough. We also need to look after our agricultural producers, and I will provide the voice farmers need.” – Alex Broadbent
Alex Broadbent is a former two term councilor for Lakeland County. He served his second term as deputy reeve and is past chair of the Agriculture Service Board. Born in England, Alex has lived in the Lac La Biche-St. Paul area for almost 40 years. Alex is an agriculture producer and small business owner.
Community involvement is important to Alex, and he has been involved with organizations such as the Pow Wow Association, 4-H, the Chamber of Commerce and the Hylo Earth Society. He has also been a delegate for the Alberta Cattle Commission and is a representative for the Wildrose Agricultural Producers.
When asked about the important issues facing Lac La Biche-St. Paul, Alex cites agricultural and environmental sustainability, rural economic development, protection of the region’s freshwater resources, health care accessibility and the cost of utilities. Alex promises to take meaningful and concrete action to address these concerns in the Legislature for all of his constituents, including the aboriginal community.
Alex’s interests include farming, dancing, politics and spending as much time with his family as possible. He married Helen, who is from the St. Paul area, and together they have four children and eight grandchildren who all live in Lac La Biche.
