“We need a government that listens for a change. For too long this government has run roughshod over the interests of individual Albertans, especially on issues like Bill 46. The interests of our rural communities haven’t been represented in the Legislature for a long time, and I’ll work hard to turn that around.” - Garth Davis
Garth Davis is a business and farm management instructor at Olds College, where he has taught since 1976. He has a diploma from NAIT in Civil Engineering, and a Master’s Degree in Agriculture from the University of Alberta, specializing in resource economics.
Garth has extensive business and agricultural experience, including 30 years spent raising hay, grain and cattle, 10 years in the insurance industry, and 4 years as a District Agriculturalist. Garth has been active in community affairs as a minor soccer coach and treasurer of Cubs and Beavers. He has also served on the Presidents’ Council of Alberta Colleges & Institutes Faculty Association.
As an MLA, Garth promises to be open, accessible, and willing to present the concerns of his constituents to the Legislature. He will fight for the issues that matter to people in the area, such as the protection of water sources, environmental and economic sustainability, and improving technology in rural schools. He will also work to abolish Bill 46, an undemocratic bill that prevents public input on decisions made by the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board.
Garth wants to see energy rebates for the agricultural sector, the establishment of an environmental protection fund and action on the province’s infrastructure deficit.
He has three children and two grandchildren.
