Dawit Issac is a true leader who can rally diverse people to a common purpose and is especially effective at building rapport with youth.  He’s spent his life bringing forward the concerns of various communities to governments and other bodies.

Dawit was born in Eritrea and schooled in Ethiopia.  He attended the University of Asmara in Eritrea where he received a degree in economics with a minor in management.  Upon coming to Edmonton seventeen years ago, he attended Taylor University and received a Masters in divinity.
He is currently the leader of the Community of Grace Church.  He was recently also a trainer in community and organizational leadership.

His work in the community includes board memberships in both the Mayor’s Multicultural Advisory Board and the Council of African Canadians.  He has served on the Queen Mary Park neighbourhood enhancement council, and now coaches soccer in the local league.  Recently, he was honoured to receive the Alberta Centennial Medal for outstanding Albertans.

Dawit is concerned with the lack of affordable housing in Edmonton-Beverly-Clareview and the prevalence of crime.  He’d like to explore ways of meaningfully engaging youth and is also very interested in addressing the need and integration of the various ethnic communities in the constituency

Dawit is married to Seble Amelga and has three young children.  In his spare time he likes to read, paint, play soccer and is learning to play the guitar.
