Len Borowski

“It’s time to bring government back to the people. With democratic renewal and fixed election dates, Calgarians’ demands for affordable housing and the elimination of health care premiums would not only be heard but acted upon. Our non-renewable resources are being pillaged and plundered, where to date, not one single acre said ‘to be reclaimed’, has been certified as such. It is time to take this personally!” – Len Borowski

Len was raised on a small family farm where his parents instilled in him and his three siblings the values of personal integrity, hard work, common sense, a concern for others, and the importance of family.

He continues to value a commitment to family and to hard work. He utilizes his weekends and vacation days to take care of his widowed mother and the family farm.

In the community, Len has served on the Board of Directors of the Thorncliff Greeview and the Fairview Community Associations. He has also served on the executive of the Boards of Calgary-Nose Creek, Highwood and Calgary-Nose Hill Alberta Liberal Constituency Associations.

He also volunteers his time in the community to charities such as Meals on Wheels, the Calgary Food Bank, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Inn From The Cold.

Len has been active in many government activities, reviews, panels and summits.

Len demonstrated unrelenting and tenacious efforts, from 1993 to 2002, in lobbying for support from all Alberta political parties. His efforts resulted in major legislative changes necessary to overhaul some government regulations.  As past Chairman of the Calgary Injured Workers Association he accomplished the passage and the proclamation into law of two Private Members Bills:

  • Workers Compensation Amendment Act (WCB) 2002 (Bill 26)
  • Statutes Amendment Act (Bill 206)
