Dan Carroll’s Biography

Dan was born and raised in Edmonton.  After obtaining an arts degree in Philosophy and Politics, Dan earned his law degree from the University of Alberta.  In 1978, he articled with the Alberta Supreme Court, finishing articles at Field Owen (now Field Law).  Dan spent five years in Field’s Calgary office (1992-1997) and has carried on a general litigation practice with that firm for over twenty-five years.  He has been involved in the Canadian Bar Association as chair of the Construction Section and the Aboriginal Law Section.  Dan has taught at the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta as a sessional instructor.  His community involvement includes serving as the president for both the Fallen Timber Community Association (south of Sundre, where he lived for five years) and the Belgravia Community League in Edmonton.

He has been actively involved in the Alberta Liberal Party since one evening, four years ago, when Kevin Taft consulted with Dan regarding running for the Edmonton-Riverview nomination.  Dan has been involved in every campaign, in one way or another, ever since.  Previous to becoming President of the Alberta Liberal Party, Dan was President of the Edmonton-Riverview Alberta Liberal Constituency Association.

Dan married Kristin Murray over twenty-five years ago, and they have three children.  His greatest accomplishment, apart from marriage, family and serving his clients, was the 16 seats that we won in the last provincial election!  He is happy to share this accomplishment with the thousands of people who worked to make that happen.
