I’ve been a member of the ALP - off and on - for about 10 years. Like many people I pretty much signed up at election time and would let my membership lapse between elections. I became more involved in the ALP for some pretty simple reasons.

Alberta has before it a tremendous opportunity to secure not only our own prosperity but the continued prosperity and secure future for generations to come. And the present government is squandering that opportunity. You don’t have enough time to print everything that is being done wrong, but we can do so much better!

I have been the volunteer chair of the “Defeat the Debt” program for the past 18 months. We have not eliminated our debt by any stretch, but dedicated Liberals from all over Alberta have made a huge difference, and we are all grateful. We will beat this problem yet.

Best thing about being a member? There is a real sense of purpose in all of this. You can really tell that Alberta’s Liberals are on the move and you can feel the momentum shifting. In so many areas of the Alberta Liberal Party - policy, finances, number of MLA’s - everything is getting better. This is an exciting time to be a Liberal in Alberta.
