Initiated the Healthy City movement in Calgary in 1986 and chaired it for 10 years

The government is not listening to the people - there is a lack of political accountability and trust
I will fight for protection of public funding for health care, fair treatment of teachers, smaller classrooms and protection of the environment

Announcement Event

An event will be held to announce the winner of the Alberta Liberal Leadership race on December 13th in Calgary at the Glenmore Inn 2720 Glenmore Trail S.. The event will be held between 12:30 and 3:00. We will be providing refreshments at the event and bar service will be available. Rooms are available for out of town guests at the cost of $104 or $109 a night—contact the hotel at (403) 279 8611 if you are interested.

Leadership Campaign – Important Dates

• September 30, 2008 – nomination day
• October 5, 2008 – leadership candidate forum at the ALP Convention in Edmonton
• November 7, 2008 – membership sales cut off
• November 28, 2008 – leadership forum at John Dutton Theatre, 616 MacLeod Trail SE, Calgary at 7 p.m.
• December 13, 2008 – leadership announcement and event in Calgary
