Bill West grew up in the Lethbridge East Constituency on a family farm on the outskirts of Lethbridge. He obtained a diploma in Criminal Justice (Policing) from the Lethbridge College. Prior to starting his law enforcement career with the Alberta government Bill owned a small business hauling livestock. Bill has been a Peace Officer with the Justice and Solicitor General for almost 14 years. He has also been an instructor at the Lethbridge College for Commercial Vehicle Enforcement .
Bill has volunteered his time with the Kinsmen Club of Lethbridge as a Director and member, volunteered with the Lethbridge District and Exhibition including sitting on the Chuckwagon committee, and has helped with many charity auctions for such organizations as the Lethbridge Rainbow Riding Centre, Ducks Unlimited, 4H and Sunny Side school. Bill is also a participant with the Southern Alberta Road Safety Society working collaboratively with all community stakeholders, to save lives on Alberta roads and increase public safety. Bill is currently a director on the Chin Coulee Feeder Co-op, and the president of Alberta Community Thoroughbred Racing Association.
When Bill is not occupied with his volunteer activities and career he helps his wife Jill with the family farm and her livestock supply business, and enjoys spending time with his young son.
